WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Crown Holdings, Inc. (CCK) reported second quarter net income attributable to company of $142 million compared to $106 million, prior year. Reported earnings per share were $1.02 compared to $0.76. Net income per share before certain items was $1.03, for the quarter.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $1.01 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales were $2.28 billion compared to $2.38 billion in the second quarter of 2014, primarily due to $241 million of unfavorable currency translation partially offset by the impact of the Empaque acquisition. Analysts expected revenue of $2.42 billion for the quarter. On a constant currency basis, revenue grew 5.7%.
