DENVER, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/20/15 -- Legacy Partners has announced the promotion of Derek Avery of the firm's Denver office to senior vice president. Since joining the company in early 2012, Avery led the Colorado management team and recently completed the complex management takeover of all KBS Legacy Partners Apartment REIT assets.

With his promotion, Avery's management portfolio grows from 12 to 23 properties in seven states in addition to Colorado: Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
Avery was also honored recently as "Person of the Year" by the Apartment Association of Metro Denver, and was elected president of the organization for 2016.
A graduate of the University of Florida, Avery earned his MBA with a focus in finance and real estate from the university's Warrington School of Business.
