WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - AptarGroup, Inc. (ATR) reported second-quarter net income attributable to company of $57.5 million or $0.90 per share compared to $53.1 million or $0.79 per share, last year. Excluding the effect of the inventory valuation method change, earnings per share were $0.82.
On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.75 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net sales were $594.28 million compared to $670.63 million, a year ago. Analysts expected revenue of $601.26 million for the quarter. Excluding currency translation effects, core sales increased approximately 2%.
AptarGroup expects earnings per share for the third quarter to be in the range of $0.77 to $0.82. Analysts expect the company to report earnings per share of $0.71.
