TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Toyota Motor Corp. said Sunday that it will halt production for three days at two plants in northern China following last week's massive explosions that rocked the port city of Tianjin.
Due to ongoing evacuation advisories, none of the three lines at Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co Ltd. will be in operation from August 17 through 19, Toyota said.
The company will also stop operating the Xiqing plant, some 70 kilometers away from the blast site, because it needs parts produced at the Tianjin plant.
The two plants were closed for holidays last week when deadly explosions took place at a chemical warehouse in Tianjin.
Toyota previously said that more than 50 employees who live in the surrounding have been injured.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Wednesday's blasts in Tianjin has reached 112 with 95 people still missing, the official Xinhua news agency reported Sunday.
