After a brief intermission both teams returned to the field with fresh mounts. White Birch was on the attack when Audi reversed the field on them. Ganzi took the ball and sent it down the field, passing it ahead to Roldan who carried it to the White Birch to score the winning goal in the first minute of overtime, 14-13.
Astrada scored ten goals for the Audi win and earned MVP honors for his efforts. Roldan added three goals and Ganzi scored once. Ulloa scored ten goals for White Birch. Brant, Aguerre and Magrini each added single goals.
Mariano Aguerre's Machitos Avispa was named best playing pony.
During the match opening ceremony, Audi presented the ball toss from the 2015 RS 5, a stunning coupe offering track-inspired performance and industry-leading style. After the game, the RS-5 guided the teams to the stage where the award presentation was introduced. Supermodel Stephanie Seymour Brant presented the trophy to individual winners, USPA President Joseph Meyer presented the trophy to individual runner-ups, USPA Chairman Chuck Weaver presented the Perry Cup to Audi. USPA CEO Duncan Huyler presented the award for best playing pony and Melinda Brewers presented an original painting to also recognize the Best Playing Pony. Town & Country magazine hosted the VIP hospitality tent at the championship match, under which guests enjoyed an unprecedented day of polo watching while mixing and mingling with some of the world's top luxury brands including Lancôme and Audi.
NBC Sports Network will air a 60-minute national broadcast of the East Coast Open final on Sept. 13 at 8:00PM EDT.
The East Coast Open was founded in Rhode Island in 1905 and was played until World War I. It had a renaissance starting in 1978 when Donald Little, then President of the USPA and Captain of the Myopia Polo Club, resurrected the tournament and brought it to Myopia Polo Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts where it was played until the early 2000's.
Since 1905, the Perry Cup trophy has symbolized this high-goal championship and winners' names are forever memorialized on the trophy.
