No loss of life; all safely evacuated
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK is sad to report that a fire in a hall at the front of the administrative building started about mid day today Saturday 26th September. By the grace of God, following the safety procedures in place, all in the building got safely evacuated. The mosque itself is untouched and the fire officers acted swiftly to contain the fire that is now contained. The cause of the fire is unknown.
The mosque complex, inaugurated in 2003, is a major place of worship accommodating up to 13,000 worshippers. The site will remain closed until it is declared safe by the fire brigade.
Rafiq Hayat, National President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK, said:

"The swift action of the emergency services and by working closely with the community the fire was contained to the hall at the front of the building and some adjacent offices.
