WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Electric car maker Tesla Motors, Inc. (TSLA) said Friday that it delivered 11,580 vehicles in the third quarter, a 49% increase over the same quarter last year, despite one week of planned production shutdown.
This marked the sixth consecutive quarter of growth and included the first deliveries of the company's new Model X luxury SUV.
In August, Tesla cut its delivery target for 2015. The company said it is now targeting to deliver 50,000 to 55,000 Model S and Model X cars in 2015, compared to its earlier target of 55,000 Model S and X cars.
