WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARNA) Monday said at the request of the Board CEO Jack Lief has retired from the company.
The board has appointed Harry Hixson as CEO and principal financial officer on an interim basis. Arena will immediately initiate a search for a new chief executive officer.
Arena also reported that it is conducting an ongoing evaluation of its programs and operations, and intends to provide details regarding its 2016 financial plan later this year.
Shares gained 4.65% or $2.25 in the after-hours trading, following the news.
