CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Japan will on Monday see preliminary October numbers for industrial production, retail sales, housing starts and construction orders, setting the pace for a busy day in Asia-Pacific economic activity.
Industrial production is expected to have added 1.8 percent on month and fallen 10.9 percent on year after gaining 1.1 percent on month and losing 0.8 percent on year in September.
Retail sales are called higher by 0.3 percent on month and 0.9 percent on year after jumping 0.8 percent on month and easing 0.1 percent on year in September. Housing starts were up 2.6 percent on year to 0.900 million in September, while construction orders jumped 6.7 percent.
South Korea will provide October data for industrial production and retail sales. Output is expected to rise 2.2 percent on year, slowing from 2.4 percent in September - when production also climbed 1.9 percent. Retail sales added 0.5 percent on month and 5.5 percent on year in the previous month.
Australia will see Q3 numbers for company operating profits, October data for private sector credit and November's inflation forecast from TD Securities.
Profits were down 1.9 percent on quarter in Q2 and inventories were flat. Private sector credit was up 0.8 percent on month and 6.7 percent on year. The inflation forecast for October was flat on month and up 1.8 percent on year.
New Zealand will see November results for the business confidence survey from NBNZ; in October, the index score was 10.5.
Hong Kong will release October numbers for retail sales, with forecasts suggesting a decline of 5.3 percent on year by value and 3.0 percent on year by volume. Sales were down 6.4 percent by value in September and 3.1 percent on year by volume.
Thailand will provide October figures for imports, exports, trade balance and current account. Imports were down 21.3 percent on year in September and exports fell 5.4 percent. The trade surplus was $4.001 billion, and the current account surplus was $1.557 billion.
Finally, the markets in the Philippines are closed on Monday in observance of Bonifacio Day, and will re-open on Tuesday.
