OSLO (dpa-AFX) - Norwegian aluminium producer Norsk Hydro (NHY, NHYDY.PK, NHYDY.PK) announced four hour power outage at Hydro Årdal, starting 17:15 CET on January 29. The company stated tahat adverse weather conditions in the region, the power supply was out for almost four hours due to a technical fault and the incident caused no personnel injuries.
The company specified that the production of aluminium has now resumed, and efforts are ongoing to stabilize the production, which is still unstable.
Hydro is currently evaluating the potential consequences of the power failure. It is currently too early to estimate when full production will resume and what the resulting financial effects will be.
Hydro Årdal has an annual production of around 190 000 tonnes primary aluminium, employs around 500 people, and casts sheet ingots and primary foundry alloys.
