CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - The Reserve Bank of Australia will wrap up its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday and then announce its decision on interest rates, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.
The central bank is widely expected to keep its benchmark lending rate unchanged at 2.00 percent.
Japan will provide January figures for monetary base; in December, the monetary base jumped 29.5 percent on year.
New Zealand will release January numbers for its commodity price index; in December, prices dropped 1.8 percent.
Hong Kong will release December data for retail sales. By value, sales are expected to fall 4.2 percent on year after shedding 7.8 percent in November. By volume, sales are called lower by 1.9 percent after skidding 6.0 percent in the previous month.
