The cloud-based learning platform recognised as leading education tool
LONDON, March 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Canvas, a learning platform developed in the US, has won the award for 'Best Secondary Resource - including ICT' at the Education Resource Awards 2016, which were held at The National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on 18 March.

The award recognises the proven track record of Canvas in transforming teaching and learning in schools and colleges internationally, and the specific impact it has had in secondary schools in the UK.
Canvas is an innovative learning management system, already used in educational institutions and corporations in 35 countries and is proving popular with schools and colleges in the UK and Europe.
In an 'always on' world where learning and teaching are changing, technology in schools needs to be collaborative and take place outside the classroom, as much as in it. The right technology can make this happen, although to date it has not always helped, with nearly a third (29%)* of in-school platforms not being regularly used.
Canvas overcomes many of the legacy issues that have plagued other systems, working across multiple devices and guaranteeing to work 99.9% of the time - plus, Canvas is actually used by teachers [63% of teachers with Canvas as their learning management platform actually use it, compared to 41% with other platforms**]. Furthermore, being a truly open source means Canvas is able to facilitate third party integrations and update regularly with more innovative content than a traditional out-dated textbook.
Heather Kane, VP of International Markets at Instructure, the creator of Canvas, said: "This win is testament to the success Canvas has had in equipping schools with technology that stops getting in the way of teaching and learning and starts to enable it. The innovative system is easy to use and gives huge flexibility to students as to how, where andwhen they learn, empowering learners."
In January, Canvas was also shortlisted for 'International Digital Education Resource' at the Bett Awards 2016.
