BENTONVILLE (dpa-AFX) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), the world's largest retailer, Wednesday said it is expanding its free curbside grocery pickup service option to eight new markets this month.
Walmart is launching the service to Kansas City, Missouri; Boise, Idaho, Richmond and Virginia Beach, Virginia; Austin, Texas; Provo, Utah; Daphne, Alabama; and Charleston, South Carolina.
The retailer is also doubling the number of store pickup locations in markets like Dallas, Houston and Atlanta, where the service is already offered.
'We've seen more and more customers using it across the country each week,' said Michael Bender, COO, Walmart Global eCommerce. 'We'll add even more locations throughout the year.'
The service allows customers to place their grocery orders online and then choose a time to pick them up at a designated parking spot when arriving at the store. No additional cost is charged.
