VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/19/16 -- Boughton Law is pleased to announce that Peter J. Anderson, a real estate lawyer and shareholder at the Vancouver-based law firm, was recognized this week at the 2016 NAIOP Vancouver and Business in Vancouver Commercial Real Estate Awards of Excellence. Anderson and the team at Boughton were named among the winners in the Office Lease and Industrial Lease categories, for their role in two noteworthy commercial leasing deals. The awards recognize quality and performance, innovation and creativity, teamwork and collaboration, as well as community and environmental awareness in commercial real estate.
The Industrial Lease category, won for the lease of 109 Braid Street, New Westminster to an international fulfillment services tenant, was awarded to the team or individual responsible for negotiating the top industrial lease completed during the calendar years 2014 and 2015. Selection was based upon the complexity, innovation and creativity of the transaction to meet the objectives of landlord and/or tenant, as well as market impact. The owner of the 38-acre industrial site, bcIMC Realty Corporation, worked with the City of New Westminster to amend the community plan and rezone the site for a comprehensive, mixed-use, transit-oriented development. After a vacancy challenge in 2014, the owner pursued leasing the 585,000 square foot industrial building for longer than what was a rolling six-month demolition period. Anderson was part of the team to close this deal.
The Office Lease category recognizes the team or individual responsible for negotiating the top office lease completed during the calendar years 2014 and 2015, and was awarded for the deal negotiated for The Leckie Building at 220 Cambie Street, Vancouver. Selection was based upon the complexity, innovation and creativity of the transaction to meet the objectives of the landlord and tenant, as well as market impact. Global Relay, a celebrated B.C. tech company and tenant of The Leckie Building, was seeking a space to accommodate its phenomenal growth and strong employee retention and recruitment efforts. The Leckie Building and its owner, Talia Jevan Properties, satisfied all of the company's requirements and Anderson was part of the team to close the deal.
"It's an honour to be recognized by NAIOP for the great amount of effort both teams put into these deals that served our clients and helped them achieve their objectives," said Peter Anderson, shareholder at Boughton Law. "Boughton Law's lawyers are focused on using innovation and creativity to provide our clients the best service for the best possible outcome - these awards pay tribute to our collective efforts."
Peter Anderson has practiced at Boughton Law for 20 years. He has a solicitor's practice focused on commercial real estate and real estate related transactions with primary emphasis on commercial lease negotiating and drafting, representing both landlords and tenants. He also deals with sales and acquisitions, property development and financing matters.
