BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/14/16 -- Boston's leading edtech incubator and accelerator, LearnLaunch, today released research that identified the Top 20 education and technology opportunities for investment and student improvement. Initial findings of this research have been released in a post on the LearnLaunch Blog.
Authored by Jean Hammond, LearnLaunch partner, and Blanca Rodriguez, MIT Sloan 2016 graduate and co-founder of Smile and Learn, this research explores why technology has been slow to integrate into education products and services in the past 40 years. By looking at important market forces, Hammond and Rodriguez identified the priorities for education and the opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs.
"We applied a framework of overlaying market vulnerabilities in the education market with specific areas of technology disruption," explained Jean Hammond. "The results had to be actionable, and point both entrepreneurs and investors toward the most promising areas of education technology."
Blanca Rodriguez continued: "We looked at the adoption speeds of key technology disruptions, as well as what most benefited educators and learners. The result of this unique analysis clearly highlighted the 20 most promising areas for edtech investment."
The Top 20 opportunities surfaced by this research include well-recognized categories such as data analytics, gamification, adaptive learning, blended learning, peer2peer learning, competency-based learning, project-based learning, and open educational resources, as well as emerging areas of innovation like machine learning and teaching, virtual training, mobile learning, automated speech recognition, and neuroscience.
