WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Crown Holdings Inc. (CCK) revealed earnings for its second quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line rose to $166 million, or $1.19 per share. This was up from $143 million, or $1.03 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.11 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 6.1% to $2.14 billion. This was down from $2.28 billion last year.
