SUNNYVALE (dpa-AFX) - AMD (AMD) announced, for third quarter 2016, based on a 13 week quarter, it expects: revenue to increase 18% sequentially, +/- 3%, primarily driven by semi-custom and graphics products, including new semi-custom business; and gross margin to be approximately 31%. For the full year 2016, the company expects: revenue to grow low single digit percentage year-over-year; and to generate positive free cash flow. The company aims to achieve non-GAAP operating profitability in second half of 2016.
For the second-quarter, AMD reported revenue of $1.03 billion, up 9 percent year-over-year primarily due to higher sales of semi-custom SoCs. Non-GAAP net loss was $40 million or $0.05 per share, for the quarter.
Lisa Su, AMD CEO, said: 'Based on the strength of our semi-custom products and demand for our latest Radeon RX GPUs and 7th Generation A-Series APUs, we are well positioned to drive growth and market share gains in the second half of the year.'
