WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Tenet Healthcare Corp. (THC) reported a profit for second quarter that dropped compared to the same period last year.
The company said its earnings fell to $38 million, or $0.38 per share. This was down from $76 million, or $0.75 per share, in last year's second quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.52 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter rose 8.5% to $4.87 billion. This was up from $4.49 billion last year.
