Initial costs of owning a cat is between about $125 to $635, while costs of a dog is $197 to $1,090. Initial costs include adoption fees, accessories and food and veterinary services.
Recurring costs, for a cat is about $1,125 yearly, while its about $1,641 on a dog, according to the American Pet Products Association.
So owning a cat is more affordable than a dog, as lifetime cost for a cat is about $13,625 to $17,510, compared to dogs at $16,607 to $22,423.
