WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL) revealed earnings for third quarter that lost ground compared to the same period last year.
The company said its profit totaled $1.00 billion, or $3.11 per share. This was lower than $1.70 billion, or $4.53 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.88 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 3.9% to $9.91 billion. This was down from $10.31 billion last year.
