WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Trinity Industries (TRN) reported earnings for third quarter that dropped compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line totaled $82.0 million, or $0.55 per share. This was lower than $198.3 million, or $1.31 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.52 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 27.9% to $1.11 billion. This was down from $1.54 billion last year.
