SPOKANE, WA--(Marketwired - November 10, 2016) - Swinerton and the Spokane Indian Tribe are excited to announce the groundbreaking of the first phase of the Spokane Tribe Economic Project (STEP).
STEP is a mixed-use development on 145 acres of Spokane Tribal trust land on the West Plains of Spokane County. This first phase includes the construction of a $16 million casino with 10-12 table games, 500 slot machines, bars, restaurants, and surface parking.
The Spokane Tribe is investing up to $400 million to develop STEP in order to create a powerful economic engine and over 5,000 jobs for the region. Future development will include a resort hotel, commercial and retail space, a police and fire department, and a Tribal Cultural Center and Wellness Center.
STEP has been in the planning, development, and approval phases for the last 12 years, and Wednesday's groundbreaking marked an exciting new era for the tribe and the region.
Warner Hospitality of Las Vegas, Nevada, has been working with the Spokane Tribe in the development and management of STEP for more than six years. Warner Hospitality brings vast experience in all phases of planning, financing, development and management of the project.
This is the first project Swinerton and the Spokane Tribe have worked on together.
