WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Over 40% percent of people who have heard about United Airline's recent ordeal said they would opt for an American Airlines flight even if it was more expensive and had an extra layover, according to a new Morning Consult poll.
Last week, a public outrage was started after a video emerged that showed officials dragging an United Airlines passenger off a flight to make room for a crew member. The video showed the passenger, who appeared to be Asian, screaming and bleeding from the mouth as officers physically dragged him off an overbooked flight.
Participants in a Morning Consult poll were asked to pick a United or American Airlines flight between New York and Chicago.
Nearly 80 percent of people, who had heard of the incident, chose an American flight instead of United. When the American flight were more expensive and longer, even then, 44 percent said they'd rather fly with American Airlines.
Meanwhile, the 30 percent of people who did not heard about the airline incident were split almost 50-50 when it came to choose United or American flights. But, when United flights got cheaper or shorter, about 8 in 10 opted for United.
