WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Latin hit song Despacito's Remix featuring Justin Bieber, has become the world's most-streamed track of the summer.
Thursday, Spotify released a list of songs that listeners streamed most this summer, and the sensational Remix takes the number one spot globally with over 786 million streams thus far.
DJ Khaled's 'Wild Thoughts' featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller came in at No. 2, while French Montana's 'Unforgettable' finished third.
Other artists making up Spotify's global songs of the summer list include Calvin Harris, Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran.
In the U.S., 'Despacito' reigned supreme, followed by Lil Uzi Vert's 'XO TOUR Llif3' at No. 2 and 'Wild Thoughts' taking the No. 3 spot.
Latin music continues to heat up the summer with five Spanish-language songs featured in the global Top Songs of Summer list.
'2017 gave us the summer of Latin Music,' said Rocio Guerrero, Spotify's Head of Latin Culture.
The songs of the summer were identified by looking at Spotify's most listened to tracks between June 21 and August 27.
Despacito topped the charts in many English-speaking countries after a Justin Bieber remix.
He offered to perform it on a remix adding a verse after he was impressed with the song in a nightclub.
Earlier this week, Despacito had tied with Mariah Carey for longest run at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 with 16 weeks.
However, it was not the most tweeted about song of the Summer.
Twitter's announcement this week that Despacito finished third behind Fifth Harmony's 'Down' and Camila Cabello's 'Crying in the Club' surprised the music world considering all the recognition it racked up recently.
