WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Assurant Inc (AIZ) released a profit for fourth quarter that decreased from last year.
The company's bottom line totaled $20.3 million, or $0.32 per share. This compares with $312.9 million, or $5.76 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.
Excluding items, Assurant Inc reported adjusted earnings of $144.5 million or $2.29 per share for the period.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.46 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company's revenue for the quarter rose 38.1% to $2.32 billion from $1.68 billion last year.
