NEW YORK, March 24, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of March 15, 2022, short interest in 3,348 Nasdaq Global Market^SM securities totaled 10,111,145,146 shares compared with 10,020,586,922 shares in 3,326 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of February 22, 2022. The mid-January short interest represents 2.55 days compared with 2.68 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 2,052 securities on The Nasdaq Capital Market^SM totaled 2,420,789,125 shares at the end of the settlement date of March 15, 2022, compared with 2,340,715,595 shares in 2,077 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.54 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period's figure was 2.46.

In summary, short interest in all 5,400 Nasdaq^® securities totaled 12,531,934,271 shares at the March 15, 2022 settlement date, compared with 5,403 issues and 12,361,302,517 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 2.26 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 2.64 days for the prior reporting period.
