Los Angeles, California--(Newsfile Corp. - November 15, 2022) - Comic magazine and entertainment veteran Heavy Metal Entertainment ("HME" or the "Company") announces that it is seeking investment to support its expansion plan. The platform is home to a number of avenues including comics, prose novels, and a podcast network among others. The Company is in the process of expanding its services into a number of new areas and intends to attract investments for this expansion and general working capital needs.
The expansion includes the next phase of its Metal+ web3 offerings and the recently launched Heavy Metal Studios ("HMS"), which will be the media production arm of the company. HMS debuted a sizzle reel of live-action footage teasing the debut of characters including Taarna, Cold Dead War, Dark Wing, Arena Mode, Adrienne James, Rise and Savage Circus, based on corporate and creator-owned IP serialized in Heavy Metal magazine.
HME recently announced its plans for its 'Metalverse' offering, a slate of both live-action and animated shows for film and TV. The announcement is part of its branching into the TV and film sector. Metalverse will be spearheaded by HMS and utilize the Company's 45 years of accumulated content. The Company also recently announced the launch of its Metal+ platform. According to HME, Metal+ is a brand-new Web3 and blockchain-based publishing arm of the Company, which will allow fans to digitally purchase and own current and past issues of Heavy Metal Magazine and Heavy Metal's illustrated publications.
"In partnership with Everscapes.io, Metal+ will offer both first-time users and current crypto natives the ability to collect, trade, and share comics and magazine issues, providing a digital solution for comic asset value. Metal + will be based on the Elysium Blockchain, powered by the Myth Token, which is 100% green and carbon neutral", says Matthew Medney, CEO of HME.
HME has a long history of 45 years in the publishing industry being one of the world's famous illustrated magazines. Its focus has been on exploring surrealistic worlds, alternate realities, science fiction and thrillers in the past, present and future categories. HME was the first publisher to bring European legends like Mœbius, Enki Bilal, and Pepe Moreno to the United States entertainment industry, while showcasing non-mainstream American superstars like Richard Corben, Vaughn Bode and Frazetta.
Matt Medney adds: "When looking at an institution such as Heavy Metal one has to entrench themselves in the vast possibilities afforded to them by such a history. With that in mind it is critical to this administration as we expand and proliferate the brand into new horizons that we focus on being the home for Mainstream Counterculture - a place where the brand stands for the outlier in culture while making them feel like the mainstream and taking the mainstream and making them feel like the bold brave outsider they wish they were. This is the mission of Heavy Metal - to create inclusion in the face of differing views. There is no ethos more important in today's day and age, and that's what our content is here to do."
On the operations front, the Company recently partnered with Whatnot Publishing, who will control and finance the production and distribution of the magazine. This will eliminate the need for staffing and investment on the Company's part to support those activities.
In the past, the Company was focused on all detailed aspects of magazine production and publication, and the merchandising side of the business, which has far greater untapped potential than has been realized to date. Resources are now focused entirely on creativity and content, which will also fuel growth of the Studio. Joseph Durko, CFO of HME concludes, "The Company is now intently focused on commercializing its creativity through partnerships and alliances to generate attractive returns at a reduced scale of operations - consistently, efficiently and profitably."
