Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - July 17, 2024) - The Canadian Securities Exchange ("CSE" or "the Exchange") today announced market statistics for June 2024.
June 2024 Operating Statistics
- Trading volume of CSE listed securities totaled 863 million shares;
- Trading value of CSE listed securities was $228 million;
- CSE issuers completed 101 financings that raised an aggregate $106 million; and
- The CSE welcomed listings from four new companies, including three fundamental changes of existing issuers, bringing total listed securities to 794 as at June 30, 2024.
"CSE issuers have remained active even in the slower summer season," said Richard Carleton, CEO of the CSE. "Our issuers completed more than 100 cumulative financings in June, only the second month so far in 2024 in which that milestone was crossed. And the total capital they raised in June also represented the second largest amount raised in any single month this year. With global interest rates now beginning to ease, we believe the financing outlook for emerging companies is poised to improve."
What's On at the CSE
The CSE team has been busy celebrating the Exchange's 20th anniversary! Earlier this month, they marked the occasion in Calgary at the Exchange's annual Pre-Stampede Breakfast, where Richard Carleton briefly discussed the CSE's history and its important role in the capital formation ecosystem. The team also celebrated in Vancouver with a special market open ceremony.
The CSE is pleased to be sponsoring and participating in the 2024 Canadian Security Traders Association (CSTA) conference, taking place in Quebec City from August 15-18. The annual conference brings together a large and diverse group of capital markets professionals and offers a series of presentations and networking events. Richard Carleton will be participating in a panel on August 16 titled "Marketplaces in the Hot Seat" with other senior executives from Canadian exchanges.
CSE Receives Membership in World Federation of Exchanges
On June 4, as previously reported, the CSE received approval for full membership in the World Federation of Exchanges ("WFE"). The WFE represents more than 250 market infrastructure providers and is a leading advocate on issues critical to the exchange industry, including market structure, capital raising, regulation and sustainability. WFE membership supports the global capital formation and liquidity goals of CSE issuers, and advances management's objective of facilitating global access to trading on the Exchange.
