WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - The Office of Cannabis Management has asked nearly 4,000 cannabis retailers in Minnesota to stop selling other THC variants, according to a report by Fox9.
The report further stated that officials are cracking down on shops selling illegal cannabis products, which includes THC-V, commonly known as 'diet weed' due to its appetite-curbing properties.
In response, the owner of Higher Place in Chaska said, 'We were very surprised that we had something on the shelves that was non-compliant'.
'Our goal from the beginning has been to be compliant with the state,' the owner added.
Spokesperson for the Office of Cannabis Management Josh Collins stated that illegal products end up in Minnesota market as those products are legal in other states.
'The regulations from state to state can be different,' Collins commented. 'Its complicated for retailers. If they're working with a supplier working with product that's legal in one state and not in another - its complex.'
The spokesperson added that people of Minnesota can request to state to include additional cannabinoids in the legal list in January 2026.
